Women's Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu No-Gi Uniform

What is Women's No-Gi Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

Women's no-gi BJJ uses specialized gear designed for female practitioners, including rashguards that accommodate sports bras and shorts/spats that fit women's proportions.

Women's no-gi training requires gear that works with the female body. The uniform consists of three main components designed specifically for women:

A women's rashguard is cut to accommodate sports bras and provides proper chest coverage and support. It should fit snugly without being too tight around the chest area, while still providing compression and protection from mat burn.

Women's no-gi shorts are designed with women's hip-to-waist ratios in mind. They should fit comfortably around the hips while staying tight enough that opponents can't grab excess material. Many women prefer shorts with built-in compression shorts for additional support.

Spats for women are cut to fit the female form, providing compression and protection while accommodating wider hips relative to waist size. They should fit tightly but comfortably without restricting movement.

Finding the right women's no-gi gear can be challenging as fit needs to work with sports bras and accommodate different body shapes. Our guide helps you identify brands that provide proper fit and support for female practitioners.

IBJJF No-Gi Competition Rules

International Standards for No-Gi Competition

IBJJF no-gi competitions require tight-fitting gear that prevents opponents from gaining advantages through clothing. Rashguards must be tight-fitting and cover the torso completely, providing adequate coverage without excess material. Shorts must be tight-fitting with no pockets or zippers that could cause injury, and must reach at least halfway down the thigh. Spats and compression wear are allowed but must also be tight-fitting. No loose clothing that could be grabbed is permitted. All clothing must be clean and in good condition. Check current IBJJF rules for any color restrictions that may apply.
