Introduction
Size chart inconsistency
Size charts for BJJ uniforms can vary widely between brands and are notoriously hard to compare. An A2 from one brand might fit like an A1 from another; sleeve lengths, jacket lengths, and weight ranges all differ.
When shopping online, it’s difficult to know which brand will actually fit. Practitioners often buy multiple sizes, return items, or avoid trying new brands altogether. Two brands might both list “A2” but have different height ranges (e.g. 170–175 cm vs 173–178 cm) and different jacket lengths, making direct comparison nearly impossible without standardisation.
Standardisation
We believe BJJ size charts should be more standardised and that there should be an easier way to compare sizes across all brands. A practitioner should be able to see, in one place, how their measurements map to different brands and sizes without manually checking each brand’s chart. Standardisation makes it possible to recommend the best-fitting uniforms across the entire market, not just within a single brand.
What we’ve done
We have gathered as many size charts as possible from BJJ-specific brands: gi and no-gi, men’s, women’s, and children’s. We have tried to standardise the data they provide: normalising units, aligning measurement types, and creating a comparable structure so we can match your measurements to the right sizes. Coverage is not yet complete; we’re constantly adding brands and improving the data.
Community extension
We intend to extend this data with the community’s help. By allowing you to submit your measurements and reviews to us, we can build a richer picture of real-world fit. Your input helps others find the best-fitting uniforms that match their size and shape and feel comfortable on the mats.
